National Seminar on ‘RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA: ISSUES, PROGRESS, AND PROGRAMME EFFECTIVENESS

THEME OF THE SEMINAR
Rural development is the cornerstone of national development process. Rural Development in India is one of the most important factors for the growth of the Indian economy. Agriculture contributes nearly one-fifth of the gross domestic product in India. In order to increase the growth of agriculture, the Government has planned several programs pertaining to Rural Development. Agriculture, handicrafts, fisheries, poultry, and diary are the primary contributors to the rural business and economy. In fact the rural development &
national development has common goals such as ensuring essential needs, increasing production, food and national security, environmental conservation, increasing employment opportunities, increasing incomes and reducing poverty, enhancing the living conditions, improving social investment and nonoperating defense. Rural development in India has witnessed dynamic changes over the years in its emphasis, approaches, strategies and programs. It has assumed a new dimension, confronting issues and perspectives as a consequence. Rural development can be richer and more meaningful only through the participation of clienteles of development. Just as implementation is the touchstone for planning, people’s
participation is the centre-piece in rural development. People’s participation is one of the foremost prerequisites of development process both from procedural and philosophical perspectives. For the development planners and administrators, it is important to solicit the participation of different groups of rural people, to make the plans participatory. The seminar will provide an opportunity for researchers, academic experts, scientists, corporate people etc, to meet and deliberate the current issues and new ideas on rural development, evaluate rural development programs and share their experience and research findings on different shades of Rural Development in India. Moreover, scientific papers presented during
various plenary sessions of the seminar are mainly focused on effectiveness, conclusiveness and practicality of Rural Development in India.
With this back drop this seminar would generate innovative thinking on rural development, identify elements for a longer term research agenda to fill critical gaps in knowledge on these issues and lay out the key requirements to strengthen the local communities and national development in an era of rapid technological change and globalization keeping in mind “Gaon Bhare to Desh Bhare”.

We shall publish 15 best papers in the first edition of RGU Journal of Commerce with ISSN No. TIMELINE OF SEMINAR

1.Last dates for submission of abstract (maximum of 250 words): 28th March 2013
2. Last dates for submission of full paper (in between 2000-8000 words): 15th April 2013
3. Design of paper: A4, Font-Times New Roman, 12 Font size, one-sided printing and 1.5 spacing
4. Registration fees: All delegates, authors / co-author / accompanying persons are also requested to register themselves individually. Registration fee is payable in favour of Head, Dept. Commerce, Rajiv Gandhi University, Payable at Vijaya Bank, Rajiv Gandhi University. Registration fee includes conference
