Scholarships : Ministry of Tribal Affairs

NATIONAL OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIPS/PASSAGE GRANT FOR ST CANDIDATES FOR THE YEAR 2012-2013

Applications in the prescribed format are invited for 15 National Overseas Scholarships and 4 Passage Grant from suitable candidates belonging to the following categories:-
1. Scheduled Tribes
2. Primitive Tribal Groups

The National Overseas Scholarship is awarded for higher studies abroad in specified field of Engineering, Technology and Science and covers cost of tuition fee and other educational expenses including maintenance, other grants and travel expenses for various courses at Masters’ level, Ph. D. and Post Doctoral level.

Passage Grant is awarded to only those ST candidates who are in receipt of merit scholarship for Post Graduate Studies, Research or Training abroad (excluding attending seminars, workshops, conferences) from a foreign government/organisation or under any other scheme, where the cost of passage is not provided, can apply for Passage Grant. The candidates should possess a Master’s or an equivalent degree in Technical, Engineering and Science disciplines from recognised Universities/Institutions. The eligibility conditions will be the same as contained in the scheme of National Overseas Scholarship for ST candidates.

(i) Bio-technology/ Genetic Engineering, (ii) Industrial Environmental Engineering, (iii) Nano-Technology, (iv) Marine Engineering, (v) Petro-Chemical Engineering, (vi) Plastic Technology, (vii) Cryogenic Engineering, (viii) Mechatronics, (ix) Automation Robotics including Artificial Intelligence, (x) Laser Technology, (xi) Low Temperature Thermal Dynamics, (xii) Optometry, (xiii) Art Restoration Technology, (xiv) Dock and Harbour Engineering, (xv) Imaging System Technology, (xvi) Composite Materials Engineering including Decentralised Power Distribution (for Solar Heat) System, Energy Storage Engineering, Energy Conservation, Energy Efficient Habitat Engineering, (xvii) Packaging Engineering/Technology, (xviii) Nuclear Engineering, (xix) Information Technology including Computer Engineering, Software, Software Quality Assurance, Networking/Connectivity Engineering, Communication System under Hazardous or Post-disaster conditions, Multi-media Communication and (xx) Industrial Safety Engineering, (xxi) Agriculture and Agro Technology, (xxii) Agronomy, (xxiii) Forestry, (xxiv) Floriculture & Landscaping, (xxv) Food Sciences & Technology, (xxvi) Forestry & Natural Resources, (xxvii) Horticulture, (xxviii) Plant Pathology, (xxix) Energy Studies, (xxx) Farm Power & Machinery, (xxxi) Veterinary Sciences, (xxxii) Soils & Water Management, (xxxiii) Plant Breeding & Genetics, (xxxiv) Small-scale Rural Technology and (xxxv) Ocean and Atmospheric Science.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS :
Minimum Educational Qualification:
(a) For Post Doctoral Research :- 1st class with 60% marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s Degree and Ph. D. 5 years’ – Research/Teaching/ Professional experience in the concerned field is desirable. Candidates with experience would be given preference.
(b) For Ph.D. :- 1st class with 60% marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s Degree. 2 years’ – Teaching/Research/Professional /M. Phil Degree experience in the concerned field is desirable. Candidates with experience would be given preference.
(c) For Master Degree :- 1st Class with 60% marks or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor’s Degree. 2 years’ work experience in the concerned field is desirable. Candidates with experience would be given preference.
