HRD Minister Smt Smriti Zubin Irani announces Vidyanjali – A school volunteer program

Another breakthrough school level open program Vidyanjali  is launched by the HRD Minister of India Smt Smriti Zubin Irani on 16th June, 2016. Vidyanjali – a school volunteer program’s vision is to develop an ecosystem that helps to inculcate reading habits among children and build a reading culture at school and surrounding community level.

Major functions of the program – Vidyanjali are mentioned below –

  1. Creating an educational ecosystem via involving volunteers
  2. Increasing reading habits among children
  3. Improving learning output of the children
  4. Improving quality of learning and education through community engagement
  5. Increasing participation of drop out candidates to main stream – reading/learning
  6. providing timely remedial support to improve the learning outcomes

 

Program is designed to strengthen the co-scholastic activities like reading, creative writing, public speaking, play acting, preparing story books for effective engagement of children. Vidyanjali, is being implemented by another wing of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which will enhance the local community involvement in Government run elementary schools.

Honorable HRD Minister Smt Smriti Zubin Irani has admitted that this new program would bring a new era to the elementary education system with re-energise the teaching-learning process to contribute towards nation building
