NBHM Ph.D. Degree Scholarships in Mathematics

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) is a government body formed in 1983 to promote the growth of higher mathematics in the India and also to coordinate other activities for the development of mathematics backed by Department of Atomic Energy.

Interested candidates from mathematics background are invited to appear for the joint screening written test which will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Selected candidates from joint entrance test will offer a financial grant as NBHM scholarships for pursuing a Ph.D. degree for research in mathematics subject. It also offers to admissions into Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. programmes of certain institutions in India.

What is NBHM Scholarship :

Scholarships under NBHM are primarily for a period of four years but may be extended to another one year . In initial stage of fellowship , financial assistance will sanction for one year at a time and must be renewed at the end of each year under satisfactory progress of the Ph D work. Year wise distribution of financial support  are displayed below –

Contingency Grant of Rs. 32,000/- Year  + HRA

Candidates are informed the Part-time research students cannot avail of this scholarship by any means.

Minimum  Eligible Criteria : 

NBHM Ph.D. scholarship is restricted to students who have completed their B.S./M.A./M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree and have secured admission to a recognized Ph.D. programme on or before August 1, 2016

How to Apply: 

Candidates are requested to kindly choose the  appropriate zone for appear into written test as per their convenient. The envelope containing the application  superscribed as NBHM Ph.D. Scholarship should be sent to respective selected zone.    Zone 4 includes Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ranchi, Shillong . Zone 4 candidates must send applications into the following address-
