Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has invited to submit online or offline mode of application from the eligible and interested students studying in class VIII standard at various educational institutes of Assam for National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2016 (NMMS-2016-17) for filling up Assam State quota seats of total 2411. . Applied students must appear for a written test which will be held on 6th November, 2016 at various district headquarters. Once selected in NMMS 2016 exam, students will be offered a scholarship of Rs 500/- per month till the completion of XII standard qualifying examination.
Who can apply for NMMS-2016:
Before applying for National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme 2016, students and their parents should follow the rules –
1. The students studying in Govt. School/ Local Body School/ Govt. aided Schools are only eligible for NMMS Examination.
2. The Parent’s/ Guardian’s income should not exceed Rs.1.5 lacs per annum.
3. The students should have at least 55% marks in class VII
Once students fulfill above criteria, can apply offline via collecting the forms from the office of Inspector of Schools and submit the same on or before 30th September along with examinations fees of Rs 150/- ( General category ) and Rs 100/- (Reserved categories). Those are kin to apply online, must visit madhyamik.in and complete the registration process on or before 30th September.
For selection into NMMS-2016, qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 32% in each paper. Even as per reservation, Out of total 2411 seats, 15% Scholarship will be reserved for students belonging SC category. 7.5% Scholarship will be reserved for students belonging SC category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.
Before appear into NMMS-2016 exam, all students must download admit card from the official website madhyamik.in on or before 25th October,2016. Without admit card, no candidates will allow to appear said exam.

Offline mode of applications must be sent or submitted to the following address with indicating Application for NMMS Examination:
