Gauhati University  is conducting the centrally administered Ph.D. Entrance for the admission of Ph D into it’s various departments. Honble Vice Chancellor Guahati University  is also given endorsement to organize the Phd Entrance centrally for all departments without any bias.

‘Expert committee headed by the VC , Gauhati University is decided the  pattern of the said Entrance Test  out as follows :

1. Total Marks for the Entrance test is decided to be of 100 marks.The break-up of marks is given below for the reference to the aspirants –

A) Common Component for all candidates- OMR based MCQ –  30 marks
i) Numerical Aptitude – 6 marks
ii) Test of Reasoning  – 6 marks
iii) ICT Awareness (basics) – 6 marks
iv) General English  – 6 marks
v) General Awareness – 6 marks

B) Subject Specific (OMR based MCQ) –                                         50 marks
C) Subject Specific (descriptive-short/long answer type) – 20 marks

The multiple choice questions( MCQ) s for the 30 and 50 marks components will have four choices and will be of 1 mark each

The Pattern for the subject specific descriptive questions will be-

(i) For subjects of Social Sciences and Humanities(1 Question of 10 marks and 2 questions of 5 marks each) : 10+5+5 = 20 marks
(ii) For subjects of Science, Technology and MBA(-4 questions carrying 5 marks each) : 4X5 marks=20 marks

2. Syllabus for the said exam will be the candidates respective PG Courses syllabus.

3. Minimum 50 percentage from all categories of exam components ( A + B + C)  must be secured by the candidates. Depending on the no of  vacancy and no of selected candidates per department , the said percentage does not indicate to offer any seat into desired department. This percentage is considered as qualifying percentage for the candidates in the said exam.

Any department can conduct personal interview at the department level for the admission if they find it necessary from their end.

4. . In case of foreign students , the eligibility for admission into Ph.D in Gauhati University will be decided by the Expert Committee for conducting the entrance test subject to clearance of other administrative requirement of Government of India

Fees for the Entrance Test is Rs. 500/-. Candidates must apply submit application form in online mode and deposit the cash in any of the SBI branch in the e-challan that would be generated during the submission of form.
