TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR UNDER GRADUATE STUDENTS IN MATHEMATICS Department of Mathematics Tripura University
OVERVIEW: No country without scientific development can be competitive and survive in this age of
science. On the other hand, without dedicated and motivated scientists, our country cannot move forward in
any field of science. To attractthe meritorious students to the basic science, a sound training programme is
needed and such a programme intensively pursued will strengthen the future of scientific developments in
the country. The students of NE‐region are found to be losing their interest in science, in particular
mathematics, in comparison to other parts of our country. They seem to suffer from a fear psychosis about
science, in particular mathematics,from the very childhood. The fear has been implanted in the minds ofthe
students atthe very initial stage oftheir mathematics learning experience. The need ofimparting elucidatory
training to the students in the under‐graduate level in mathematical sciences and organizing such types of
training‐cum ‐workshop are to make them not only aware ofthe excitements in the learning of mathematics
but also bring to their notice the prospects of mathematics for advancements in other areas of knowledge as
potential applications.
During the training programme therewill be rigorous discussion on the selected topics between the
participants and the experts and every day at least one hour will be spent for such interactions. This
programme is completely different from the conventional class room teaching and the topics to be covered
are accordingly chosen.Thiswillhelp in alleviating the fearfrommathematics.
Further, as the students will meetthe renowned experts they will know aboutthe scope and variety
of potential applications of mathematics at various levels. Thus some of the participants, it is hope, will
choosemathematics fortheir career.

ACCOMODATION AND HOSPITALITY: Fooding and lodging will be provided free of cost.
TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE:
2nd class Train/ Bus fare will be provided for to and pro journey.
WHO CAN APPLY?
1st year/ 2nd year/ 3rd year B.A/B.Sc. students having Mathematics as one of the
compulsory subjects.
