Two Day National Seminar On “Social and Economic Status of the Marginalized Communities in Tripura with Special Reference to the Scheduled Castes Groups” On 19th and 20thNovember 2013 Organized by Ambedkar College, Fatikroy Unakoti, Tripura In Association with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) North East Regional Centre Shillong, Meghalaya
Objectives of the Seminar:
*To assess socio-economic status of Schedule Caste communities.
*To assess the impact of positive discrimination on education attainment.
*To assess the impact of positive discrimination on employment in the public sector.
*To assess the intergeneration change and social mobility among the SCs.
Sub-themes are:
1. Ethnographic study on marginalized communities with special reference to SCs.
2. Globalization and Scheduled Castes.
3. Impact of reservation policy on education.
4. Impact of reservation policy on employment.
5. Inter-generational educational status.
6. Inter- generational occupational status.
7. Social Exclusion, Discrimination and Economic Deprivation.
8. Social mobility.
9. Status of Women in Scheduled Caste Communities
Call for Papers
Research papers are invited from the scholars, researchers, academicians and the members of NGOs and Media focusing on the themes. Papers can be written either in English or in Bengali.
Expected Outcome
The seminar aims at publishing an anthology of the caste groups of Tripura. It also intends to assess the impact of the policy of positive discrimination on the marginalized SC communities in Tripura.
