National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam ( NLUJAA )  is organizing a One Day National Conference on Protection of Rights of Children : Issues and Challenges in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Assam Field Office at Conference Hall , NLUJAA on March 14, 2015 .

The UNICEF Assam office is initiating a program called Centre for Child Rights (CCR) in NLUJAA  to set up a knowledge hub  for Assam as well as other North- Eastern states of India in anchoring and facilitating various child rights related activities for  significant development.

Who can apply for the National  Conference : 

Academicians, government officials, judicial officers, scholars, students, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), representatives and practitioners on Child Rights issues.

Themes and Sub Themes of the Seminar : 

A. Rights based approach to working with Children: from “Charity‟ to “Entitlements”
B. The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict: relevance of the issue to Indian context
C. The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography: relevance of the issue to Indian context
D. Age of Juvenility as dealt in various international instruments related to Juvenile Justice: perspectives and contentions
E. The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000: key challenges and bottlenecks in implementation
F. The issue of pendency of cases before Juvenile Justice Boards: Reasons and Solutions
G. Protection of Children from Sexual Offences: A SocioLegal Analysis
H. Judicial Responses to the implementation of POCSO Act: role of Special Court
I. Protection of Rights of Children: Indian Personal Laws

Registration Fees : 

A very nominal fees must be  borne by the attending candidates as follows –
A. For Academicians, Government Officials, Judicial officers, NGO representatives, practitioners, Members of Civil Society –  Rs.1,000/-
B. Research Scholars / Students – Rs.500/-

 Confirmation about acceptance of Abstract from concern authorities : February 18, 2015
 Last date for submission of full paper with fees : February 28, 2015
 Confirmation about acceptance of full paper : March 05, 2015
