This time, Gauhati University is decided to organize screening of candidates for admission into the PhD Programme for the academic session 2016-17 with three-tier process.
1. Central Application Process (CAP)
All interested appearing candidates including international students must fill up online Central Application Process (CAP) to participate into Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GU-RET 2016). CAP registration process will be shortly available and the link for the same will be listed in the official website of Gauhati University . So interested candidates are advised to revisit the GU website periodically.
2. Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GU-RET 2016)
The Controller of Examination , GU has asked to appear the students for one question paper consists of three sections of total 100 marks duration of 3 hours . The course contents of the said GU-RET 2016 PhD entrance examination will be the Masters Programme of GU for all disciplines . For course contents, candidates are advised to visit http://web.gauhati.ac.in/courses/.
Other Information :
A. Minimum qualification for apply into GU-RET 2016 is master degree from any disciplines recognized by GU. Those are appearing for final year Master Degree exam, they can also appear for the entrance test subject to their completion of Master Degree on or before the final selection.
B. Any candidates can be marked as qualify under GU-RET 2016 – , if he/she can able to score minimum 50% in each section. Be keep in mind that , this qualifying marks does not offer any seat.
C. For admission into the PhD Programme of Gauhati University , GU-RET 2016 exam will be held centrally in the last week of May, 2016 Details will be made available through official website of GU.
D. The CAP and GU-RET 2016 results will be valid ONLY for the academic session 2016-17.
E. Final Results of Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test 2016 will be published by third week of June. Details will be made available through official website of GU.
Who can avail exemption from appearing in the GU-RET 2016 :
i) If the applicant is already availed any research fellowship including NET-JRF (CSIR / UGC).
ii) A permanent faculty member of any GU Postgraduate Department.
3. Final Counseling Process
Once the final selection is done then the selected candidates will be asked to appear for the counselling process for get the admission in their interested subjects as per UGC rules and regulations. Candidates are advised to ready their all supportive testimonials before they come for counselling process. The dates for the same will be announced shortly in the official website of GU.
